Effects of stress on university student’s performance negatively

Womble,  (2010) explores the role that stress pays in impacting academic achievement for college students. The author emphasizes the importance of economic factors and socioeconomic status has subsequently has important implication on employment of the student. Students involved in working programs are cited as the worst hit in as far as stress is concerned. The author indicates the need for intervention to help the students out of this situation and proposes that family members, friends as well as professional staff as the most important stakeholders in thin respect.

Activities that involve the time of students such as work study programs have been reported to have negative effects on the performance of students, this activities demand much of the students’ time and they are significant causes of psychological stress.

The authors also indicate the role that is played by procrastination in connection to the relationships of mastery goals achievement and avoidance goals (Seo, 2009).
