Importance of Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives are defined as statements, which describe the activities that learners are required to undertake during a learning process. The statements explain what is expected from the learner because of the learning process. The objectives are significant in the creation of lesson plans and offer students information on what they are supposed to learn and a sign of how learning is measured.

Objectives are instrumental to both students, and their instructors to direct learners about their learning activities. They are used often used for organized pre-testing and allow course students to demonstrate the needed pre-requisite behaviors. The situation helps in redirection of remedial work to learners who lack the basics and skip those who have attained the behaviors, which the unit is intended to teach. They are the basis of grading and determination of competence levels in mastery system of learning, which demonstrate efficient teaching that matches student learning, measured in exams. The process that involves clarification of objectives can produce significant changes by those who participate in the process. For instance, instructors who take their time developing the objectives acquire improved understanding of a feasible goal. In an instance, that various general goals have been identified several specific sub-goals tends to emerge. This means that the  learning objective remains a significant aspect in the learning process because of their benefits to both the learner and the teacher.
