Why you wish to enroll in the Army ROTC program

Personal Statement

Military service is in my blood. My father and grandfather were both veterans, while my mother, who raised me as a single parent, also served. I regard continuing that tradition as an honor, and my application for the ROTC is an effort on my part to not only continue that tradition, but also improve it. No one in my family has ever served as an officer before. By joining the ROTC I hope to go on and become the first member of my family to serve in a commissioned rank. This would undoubtedly mean much to my mother, who also raised by twin sister, and acted as the kind of role model every youngster should have. A desire to follow her military example, and become a similar kind of person to her, is a massive part of motivation for joining the ROTC. One quality which my mother has always shown is mental toughness. This is a hugely admirable skill that I believe I can develop during my time with the ROTC.

Personal Financial Planning Admission Statement

Our world has been changing at a tremendous pace due to rapid progress in almost every field including computing technologies and health sciences. Information now exists at finger tips and people are living longer and healthier. These trends only increase the importance of sound financial planning because retirement time horizons will only become longer over time. At the same time, one may suspect that more people are financially savvy now since it is so easy to access knowledge and information. Unfortunately, the reality could not have been more different as evident by the statistics that indicate declining savings trends and rising debt levels. The frequency of financial crisis also reminds us that most people still do a poor job of financial planning including investing. This may be due to several factors including being influenced by group-thinking or being advised by financial advisors who are either incompetent or do not adhere to the ethical standards of their profession.

Statement of Intent

My father is an engineer by profession and founded his own company which builds equipment for railways in China. He even holds patents and though he has always loved his work, he never forced his own opinions on my as to what I should do with my life. It is not uncommon in China and probably in the U.S. also for children to go into the same career as their father, especially if the family already has an established business but my father always encouraged me to discover my own strengths and interests and choose a career accordingly. He always encouraged me to continuously improve myself and as a result I developed love for learning and continue to read on a wide range of subject matters including business, finance, science, politics, history, and psychology etc. Not surprisingly, I have also read extensively on investing and economic structures and believe that China may also have its own financial crises on the pattern of internet bubble and 2007 financial crisis in the U.S. and it may happen sooner than later.

Letter of Intent (Master of Public Administration- State and Local Governance Emphasis)

My choice to select the school of P.A at Southern Utah University out of the many public administration institutions is founded on several factors. These factors include; professional and qualified faculty members, the ability to link the class theoretical learning with real-life practicality, the interdisciplinary nature of your curriculum, and, more important the personalized attention to the students’ interests and needs. The numerous courses within the public administration graduate program ranging from Law, Research Methods, Ethics, Human resources, among others combined with the knowledge base of prolific researchers such as Joe Vallet and Dr. Pool Funai, means I will be exposed to the field of public administration in various perspectives. Additionally, studying modules that have not formed part of my previous education experience, such as Administrative law, make me interested in being a member of this prestigious institution.

Personal statement

I am writing this statement to express my interest in the masters of social work degree program at Western Michigan University. I acquired a 3.00 grade point average in my graduate degree, and I have since been involved in supervisory and public assistance positions. My degree course has a lot of concentration on graduate social work, education risk analysis and human resource skills. Being in the social work for over the past 10 years has made it possible for me to get hands on experience, learn and perform various tasks competently. To begin with, as a young and flexible graduate, I am able to assess the admissibility of client decisions and decide the essential plan of actions. Additionally, I am capable of corresponding with all the involved parties to ensure quality services are delivered. What’s more, the knowledge and experiences I have achieved in the past years have enabled me to solve social problems and achieve positive outcomes and provide resources for clothing, food, bus transportation, medical appointments and housing. The time I have spent in the field has honed my communication proficiency, and I am able of communicating clearly between the management and clients. I am keen to detail and am able to document highly accurate, detailed assistance forms and reports. Lastly, I am well organized with a focus on time management.

It is through patience, persistence, hard work and dedication that I have gone to the level that I have managed to reach. I believe that these qualities will make me an even better candidate for the master’s degree program at this established university. I will be in a position to attain a high level of perceptive and understanding since I will be matching the practical experience I have achieved with the theory that I will learn in the program.

Preacher’s Daughter

I might not have had the ideal childhood, thus, it’s strange that I have always loved life. Life became a teacher for me at quite a young age because there was a stark contrast between my world and the world others lived in. The adversity didn’t only turn me into an acute observer but also helped me better understand the true nature of human emotions. Being a preacher’s daughter, I wore dresses that covered my whole body down to my ankles and was not allowed to wear pants or indulge in fashion trends like my classmates did. I realized it quite early that I was subjected to different rules because that was my father’s decision. My father never realized that I might have been a preacher’s daughter but I was not very different from my classmates in terms of dreams and wishes. I still remember feeling as an outcast while my classmates would celebrate Christmas. These experiences taught me that what matters more are not the society’s conventional rules or traditions but the freedom to pursue dreams and seek happiness.

Pharmacy Personal Statement

I come from a family with a distinguished history of careers in the healthcare sector. These include my father and two of my uncles who are pharmacists as well as my two sisters who are Registered Nurses (RNs). Observing them helped me realize that healthcare professionals do not view their work just like any other profession because they are inspired to maximize the overall wellbeing of the society. I discovered in high school that my interests and strengths suited to science subjects and in addition, my father would often tell me that one should choose a career path which he/she will not only excel at but will also enjoy. By the time I started my college life, I knew that I will be following a career path in pharmacy and began looking for learning and work opportunities to prepare myself for the future.

Letter to brother about immigration

Dear James,

When I came to America, I had only two dreams; to build a future for myself and to help my family. I worked hard day and night for the day you will come to America and become my greatest support. I still remember the happiness I felt upon receiving you at the airport because I finally had a brother and a friend I could rely upon. I still believe in you because it is an elder brother’s job to believe in his younger siblings and not give up hope.

Letter to brother about immigration

Dear John,

I have always believed in your intelligence and potential. This is why I brought you to the U.S. and spent thousands of dollars of my own money so that you will go to college and achieve in life that no one in the family has ever done. Whatever happened in the past is done and there is no use in thinking about it. But one thing still remains the same and that is my belief in you and your potential.

Nursing

My educational and professional goals, short and long term, and how earning the doctor of nursing practice will help reach these goals.

Nursing became my passion while I was still a little girl in Jamaica. I remember pretending to be a “nurse” even as a 4-5 years old child.  I loved helping my great grandparents who were blind as well as learning about the anatomy and physiology of animals. A farmer by profession, my grandmother used to deliver babies in the community despite having no formal education in healthcare. In addition, she would also care for the sick and administer them traditional medicine. She was the perfect example of compassion, commitment, dedication, and authenticity while performing her duties. The respect and pleasure she got from helping others also inspired me to walk in her footsteps. I realize the demands of the nursing profession and believe one can only be a nurse if he/she is intrinsically motivated, has a good character, and possess strong social and communication skills. These skills and personality traits help the nurses develop strong interpersonal relationship with their patients and serve their needs in the best possible manner.

Chemical Engineering Personal Statement

I am currently pursuing my PhD in Material Engineering at Colorado School of Mines (CSM), having graduated from the Masters program in Metallurgical Engineering at CSM as well. Even though I did my undergraduate in Chemical Engineering, my future plans and expectations as well as suggestions from family and friends persuaded me to switch to Metallurgical Engineering. Moreover, I am from Saudi Arabia which is the largest oil producer in the world, thus, Metallurgical Engineering seemed a logical choice.

Ohio State Personal Statement

I have been inquisitive and social for as long as I remember. I learnt early in life that we cannot underestimate the influence of environment and the company we keep on our personal development. I have learnt from people I have met in life as much if not more than what I have learnt in school. This is why I decided early on in high school that I will go to college that doesn’t only offer me world-class education but also ample opportunities outside classroom to learn and develop my character. As part of my research, I have personally visited several campuses to evaluate the quality of life in classrooms and on campus and no college has impressed me as much as Ohio State University (OSU). I was especially taken away by the diversity of students on campus and the college culture I experienced at OSU was unlike any culture I have ever experienced.

Law School Personal Statement

I grew up in poverty but my family always had a big heart and believed in service to the community. They taught me that the society progresses when it takes care of its least fortunate members. Later when I decided to attend college, many of my friends tried to change my mind since I was barely surviving economically and had four children to take care of but I decided to take on the challenge. I even had personal reservations in the beginning regarding my ability to successfully manage studies, work, and family at the same time but the end result even came as a surprise to me. I didn’t only successfully manage family and work but also excelled at college, winning several awards including U.S. Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) Scholarship, Dean’s List, and Paralegal Honor Student of the Year. I majored in Rehabilitation Counseling because I didn’t want a job just for income but also for making difference in the society.
